Significance Of Drinking Water Every Day

At present it has become most confusing factor, how much water to drink daily? And why? Some of us say, 8-12 glasses of water enough or 1-2 litres enough. Which one to believe, for better and healthy lifestyle. First of all, we will see why should we drink water? How much water body requires to perform all inner functionalities? To perform our day to day activities in our body, altogether it needs 2.5 litres. 2.5litres requires to perform digestion activity and to form urine, sweat, cough and all. This factor has been decided, assuming the food intake is in proportion to the water we drink. But now days most of our foods are processed foods or frozen foods. While we eat the food, the way it’s available in nature, then 2.5 litres water is enough per day. But since we cook or boil the food, or we eat spicy foods or oily foods, we require more than 2.5 litres. If we have more oily foods or spicy foods or junk, it’s preferable to drink 5 litres a day. We should always remember, the more we eat, the more we have to drink water.

But, It has become vice versa. We take more solid foods and drink less water. When we eat oily foods or cheese or chips more, we feel very thirsty. This is because, oily foods to get digested requires more water. Lack of water in the body, leads to all sort of disorders like constipation, asthma, sinus, period stomach pain, bad odour from body etc., when we give more importance to eat what we like, why don’t we give more importance to drink water?. If we drink enough water daily, the body has a chance to cleanse properly. If what we eat is more than what we drink, the body exhibits the lack of water problem, in the form of diseases. It’s our responsibility to provide enough water to body, to experience the healthy life style. There is lot of difference between living normally with all small/big diseases then and there AND leading healthy life all the time.

There are certain timings to drink water. We should not drink water, right after food or right before having food. Once we make a habit of drinking water, in case if we miss one day, the body itself asks water in the form of thirst, which is a good sign. This should be experienced only, than oral explanation. Right after food, if we feel thirsty that could be the reason with the food what we ate. If we had oily foods, immediately we feel more thirst, which is not good sign.

Preferable timings to drink water:
1) In the morning as soon as you get up, with empty stomach, drink 2 litres of water. Initially it’s difficult to drink 2 litres of water at a shot. We can start with half litre and gradually we can increase. Initial days, we might feel nausea to drink with empty stomach, but it’s quite common. If you feel nausea take some gap and drink. And also, drinking with empty stomach helps you, to get free motion. Very much helpful for constipated patients.
2) Once done the first step, take 1 hour gap. In the mean while you can finish your nature call and bath. This one hour gap can be filled this way, now you can have your breakfast.
3) In between breakfast and lunch (one hour before lunch) drink water again, how much ever you can.
4) Again, In between dinner and snacks/dinner, have one more litre.

In the initial days, to make a habit of drinking water as mentioned above, you might face little difficulty like nausea, frequent visits to toilets (that’s the way our inner body gets cleansed throws all the toxics in the form of urine). But its all for our better and healthy lifestyle.
